SPEC AD: This is a self-initiated spec ad created purely for portfolio purposes. It wasn’t commissioned or endorsed by the brand. It’s just a creative concept to show what I can do.

Challenge

The marketing team at Decjuba wants to grow their email list by positioning sign-ups as an opportunity to become an ‘Insider’. While this idea is a strong drawcard by itself, the benefits of becoming an Insider could be emphasised more. Given that their target audience is fashion-conscious Australian women over 18, their desire for social approval and standing out from the crowd should be a key focus in all marketing communications.

My Approach

To uncover the true value of becoming a Decjuba Insider, I reviewed the existing opt-in page copy and asked: why does each feature matter? For example, what does early access to offers mean in real terms? It means women who sign up get first dibs on the latest items, so they can wear them first, stay ahead of fashion trends and become the envy of their friends. The deeper benefit is tied to social status.

To that end, I focused on highlighting the exclusivity of the offer, that is, being first in line.

Because you shouldn’t mess around with your messaging.
